21-year-old Indian cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy scored his maiden Test century batting at number 8 in the ongoing Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. He achieved the feat in 171 balls with the help of 10 fours and a six, helping India avoid the follow-on and pave the way for a comeback in the match.

Reddy along with Washington Sundar shared a 127-run partnership for the 8th wicket, which is India's second-highest partnership for the 8th wicket in Australia.

After his century, his father Mutyala Reddy's reaction is going viral on social media, in which he is expressing pride and happiness over his son's achievement.

This innings of Nitish Kumar Reddy has taken charge of the Indian team at a crucial juncture, helping the team avoid the follow-on and return to a competitive position in the match.
