The Boise State Broncos are the football team of Boise State University (Boise, Idaho), which is part of the Mountain West Conference in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The team plays its home matches at Albertsons Stadium, which is famous for its blue turf.
History:
Founded in 1933, the Broncos have won 22 conference championships and 2 national championships (junior college in 1958 and Division I FCS in 1980). Their all-time winning percentage is .727, the sixth highest among NCAA FBS teams.
2024 Season:
In 2024, the Broncos posted a record of 12–2 (7–0 Mountain West). They defeated UNLV 21–7 in the Mountain West Championship Game, earning them a spot in the College Football Playoff. However, they lost to Penn State 14–31 in the Fiesta Bowl (CFP Quarterfinals).
Fame:
The Broncos are known for their blue turf, called "The Blue." Installed in 1986, it was the first non-green artificial football field of its kind in the US.
