Former US President Jimmy Carter died on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. His state funeral was held at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. on January 9, 2025, with President Joe Biden paying tribute. The ceremony was attended by all living former presidents, President-elect Donald Trump, and other dignitaries. Carter is remembered for his peace efforts, humanitarian work, and efforts to restore faith in government.

After the funeral, Carter's body was taken to his hometown of Plains, Georgia, where he was buried next to his wife Roslyn.

In his honor, President Biden declared January 9 a national day of mourning.

Jimmy Carter, who was the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, remained active in the field of human rights, democracy, and health even after his tenure, especially through 'The Carter Center'.

To honor his life and legacy, several news channels broadcast his funeral live.
